THE BELL TOWER OF SANT’ANTONIO ABATE

Opening times: always closed The place can be reached by car This bell tower represents the remains of one of the oldest churches in Gatteo: Sant’Antonio Abate (Saint Anthony the Abbot). The church was built in 1467 or perhaps even earlier and it was destroyed in 1944 during the bombing of the Second World War. PARISH CHURCH OF SAN MICHELE ARCANGELO IN SALUTE

The place can be reached by car Located 4 km north-east from Savignano and is mentioned for the first time in 1070 in a certificate from the bishop of Rimini in which this parish is assigned to its canons. The parish church had its origins, as mentioned around 1000, from a small church dedicated to the archangel Michael and built by the Lombards of Queen Theodolinda who converted to Christianity.
