Just a stone’s throw from the beach and the centre of Gatteo Mare, the Giardini Don Guanella are perfect for enjoying a break in the greenery during a day at the beach or for an evening walk with the family.
Recently expanded and refurbished, the park – a green oasis covering over 12,000 m² – perfectly combines sustainability and inclusion. Thanks to tactile maps, accessible street furniture and a large, inclusive children’s play area, the gardens truly welcome everyone, breaking down all barriers.
Walking or cycling along the park’s cycle and footpath – which is linked to the city’s network – you find yourself surrounded by the colours and scents of young Mediterranean scrubland. Various tree species typical of the Adriatic coast are growing here, including oaks, tamarisk and shrubs.
For cyclists, there is a rest area with bike racks and cycling facilities, ideal for relaxing between rides.
Those who love to keep active will find a large, well-equipped sports area: the perfect place to challenge each other in basketball or enjoy a range of outdoor activities.
But it’s at sunset that the atmosphere really comes alive: on summer evenings, the Ferris wheel – from which you can admire the whole town – and the great fun Brucomela carousel transform the park into an unmissable destination for families.
Just a short walk from the gardens, the fun continues at the Arena Rubicone with music and shows, and in the nearby Teo Beach area – the perfect spot for children and teenagers, – with everything from baby dance sessions to exciting beach volleyball tournaments.
Near the park are Lollo’s House, the information point for the Delphinos Association, which organises a range of sports and recreational activities at sea, such as swimming lessons for children and initiatives for people with reduced mobility, as well as the ‘Casina del Gatto’, one of the information points for the Gatteo Mare Summer Village.
