WATER HOUSES OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF GATTEO

A Water House is the new version of the old-time drinking fountain. It dispenses safe, fresh, drinking water from the municipal water network.
This dispenser is also an interesting piece of urban fabric, which offers something new compared to its antecedent: you can have still water (by paying € 0,05 a litre) or fizzy water (by paying € 0,10 a litre).

Let’s remember that the Water Houses are:
– eco-friendly, because by drinking a litre of tap water, instead of using bottled water, you avoid using your car for 2 km. If you multiply that by about 1 million cars (if you consider the average consumption in Italy), we are looking a very significant difference in pollution;
– safe, since the water from the public water network is  tested more often than the water contained in bottles;
– socially useful, because they are meeting spots for local communities.

The Water Houses were built for the municipality of Gatteo by Adriatica Acque, in cooperation with Gruppo Hera, Romagna Acque – Società delle fonti Spa and Unica Reti. Adriatica Acque deals with the withdrawal of the income and it takes from it only the amount necessary to cover the operating and maintenance costs of these machines.

The Water House in Gatteo
The House of Water situated in Parco XXV Aprile in Gatteo was the first one to be installed in the whole Gatteo area. It is in a green park which is a popular area, easily accessible also by car and next to a car park.
The dispenser was inaugurated on the 15th of December 2012 and so far it has gathered excellent results.
Moreover the Water House has become a new meeting spot for locals, where people tend to see each other and have a chat after a working day as the old people used to do in the past at the public fountain which was once situated in Piazza Vesi and called “la Pumpèina”.

The House of Water in Sant’Angelo (Gatteo)
On the 4th of October 2014 a new Water House was installed in Sant’Angelo (Gatteo) in Via Sozzi, near Parco Zaccagnini, a popular green area, easily accessible also by car. This dispenser is a very interesting piece of urban fabric, being decorated with photos depicting historical celebrities born here: Secondo Casadei and Arturo Fracassi.
